Dr. Melvina Calvin Edwards
Dr. Melvina Calvin Edwards is a distinguished Kankakee police officer and the coordinator for the Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice program at Kankakee Community College (KCC). With 18 years of experience in law enforcement and higher education, she is a celebrated figure in her community. Melvina holds a doctorate in education from Olivet Nazarene University, obtained in 2021. She has been recognized by Lifestyles of Kankakee County Women in Business and is a two-time Paragon Award winner. Dr. Edwards serves on the boards of Harbor House and YWCA.
Her roles have included community liaison officer, juvenile officer, school resource officer, and elderly officer. Outside of her professional achievements, she has been married to Josh for 10 years and is a proud mother to their seven-year-old son, Ace.
