Bill Yohnka, Converge Conference
A proud native of Kankakee, Bill Yohnka serves as the Executive Director of the Kankakee Riverfront Society, where he leads the transformative project known as The Currents of Kankakee.
Under his guidance, this multi year initiative aims to reposition Kankakee as a premier riverfront community, enhancing the region’s appeal as a vibrant destination for visitors, skilled workers, and families alike. The project promises to create a dynamic blend of natural, cultural, and recreational attractions, complemented by residential and commercial developments, and foster a sustainable economy.
Bill holds a BA in Political Science and Marketing from Lewis University. His extensive professional and volunteer background includes leadership roles with the Kankakee Development Corporation, the City of Kankakee, and Kankakee School District 111.
Beyond his executive role, he contributes to the community by hosting storytelling and trivia events, as the morning radio host on X-Country 106.5 (WXNU), manager of the Kankakee Farmers Market, announcer for the Kankakee County Speedway and Kankakee Kays Basketball, and manages the grounds for the Merchant Street MusicFest.
