Amy Zabel is the Associate Director of HR at Olivet Nazarene University.

She is a wife, step-parent, grandparent, and horse lover.  She graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science with a specialty in horses. Her first career was in the horse industry as a college professor, riding instructor, and trainer.   

In the early 2000s, her heart was drawn from the animal industry to non-profit leadership.  After serving in various volunteer leadership roles, she discovered a new passion for the people and mission-driven organizations.  That led to many years on church staff, a role in human services, and now in human resources at Olivet.  

The recent pandemic provided the perfect opportunity to upskill, and Amy obtained a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in professional and executive coaching from Lewis University.  An ICF Associate Certified Coach since 2021, Amy loves to collaborate, think big, and encourage people on their journey. 

Today, with over 16 years in non-profit leadership, she understands what it means to be mission driven and values helping people and organizations maximize their time, talent, and resources.
